Portrait of Kimmo Rytkönen

Kimmo Rytkönen

Repeat founder. 20+ years building zero to one in startups and credit.

IPO exit · Ventures scaled to €200M+ · Tallinn, Estonia

I’ve spent 20 years building from zero to one. My experience covers the whole lifecycle of a business with special understanding of fintech, credit and lending. During my career I’ve built lending businesses in Europe and Southeast Asia.

I co-founded Tunaiku (Amar Bank, IPO 2020) and Aasa Group, running it to a €200M+ balance sheet as Group CEO. I founded the investment platform Income Marketplace, where I now advise.

The expertise is consumer and SME lending across multiple jurisdictions, underwriting, scorecards, collections and portfolio performance. It covers a full credit cycle including fundraising, distress, and a debt and equity restructuring. Most recently I’ve been applying AI in credit workflows and exploring AI through vibe coding.

Today I advise Income Marketplace on credit and risk, and Vanir Assets, a Gibraltar fund investing in digital assets.

Income Marketplace

Founder & CEO 2020 to 2023, now Advisor

Private credit marketplace. Concept to launch in eight months, and 4,500+ investors and €74M facilitated by the time I handed over as CEO.

Now 11,000+ investors and €250M+ facilitated. Nominated Foreign Founder of the Year twice at the Estonian Startup Awards.

Tunaiku / Amar Bank

Co-founder 2014 to 2022

Digital lending joint venture with Amar Bank and Tolaram Group. I developed the early processes and go-to-market plans with the local team, and built the business on traditional and alternative data for credit scoring. It became one of Indonesia’s largest fintech lenders.

Bank Amar listed on the IDX in September 2020, up 68.97% on the first day. I sat on the bank’s steering committee through the IPO and exited in 2022.

Aasa Group / Supernova JV

Co-founder, Group CEO 2016 to 2019

Consumer lending in Finland, Poland and Sweden, run from Luxembourg. €200M balance sheet, €80M revenue, 300,000 customers, around 200 employees.

I led the group through debt and equity restructuring before exiting the business at the end of 2019.

Aasa Polska

Founder 2011 to 2019

Founded in 2011 and later part of the Supernova group. Built from nothing into one of Poland’s best-known consumer lenders. 100+ employees and a €70M+ loan portfolio.

Ran go-to-market, pricing, budgeting, investor relations, funding rounds and audits.

Big Data Scoring

Co-founder 2013

A spinoff from what we learned at Aasa: using social network data to predict payment behaviour.

One of the first companies anywhere to apply social media data to credit underwriting. Sold via management buyout.

I’m first and foremost a builder, but I take a few engagements at a time where the problem is interesting and I know something useful.

I advise startups and review credit books for investors and lenders. Scorecard and underwriting reviews, loan book reviews before an acquisition or a funding round, second opinions on pricing, technology and new markets.

Someone else builds the model. I read it and tell you where it doesn’t hold.

Startups and technology are what I keep coming back to. If you’re a builder and you want to talk with someone who has taken companies from zero more than once, I’d like to hear from you.
